Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a senior citizen fell from the moving bus without a door in Jakkanahalli in Pandavapura taluk of the district. As bus was full due to the free travel scheme for women, the deceased was standing on the footboard.
Deceased is identified as Cheluvegowda, 65, a resident of Aranakere village of the Pandavapura taluk. Following the incident KSRTC announced Rs.2.5 lakh compensation to his family.
According to the sources, Cheluvegowda was returning from weekly market at Jakkanahalli circle. As the bus was full, he was traveling standing on the footboard. Near the Hemavati canal, the bus jumped due to the pothole, and Cheluvegowda fell from the bus. He sustained serious injuries on his head and succumbed to injuries later at a local hospital.
