Bengaluru: A 42-year-old businessman from RMV II Stage was allegedly duped by a person who posed as a bank executive, got details of his new credit card and made transactions worth Rs. 84,000 in Sadashivanagar police limits.
According to the police, the victim, P. Srinivasan, had taken a credit card from a private bank on November 4. Four days later, he received a call from a man introducing himself as an executive of the bank.
The conman convinced Srinivasan to give his card details and the one-time password, by claiming that the bank was giving him a free upgrade.
A few minutes after Srinivasan gave the details, he got a message on his phone saying his credit card had been used to purchase goods worth Rs. 84,000 online.
Based on Srinivasan’s complaint, the Sadashivanagar police have taken up a case under the IT Act.
