Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday January 24 has urged officials from the Water Resources Department to ensure that the Yettinahole project, which would offer drinking water to people in Kolar and Chikkaballapura districts, be completed by September this year.
According to sources, CM Bommai has directed senior officers from the Cauvery Neeravari Nigam and Visvesvaraya Jala Nigam to expedite the pending project.
Land acquisition for the Byragondlu reservoir in Tumakuru has caused a delay in the project. Farmers in two taluks demanded the same price for their land, making it impossible for the government to buy land.
The CM further took the officials for handing the lake-filling work to the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department and the Minor Irrigation Department without first obtaining government consent.
After authorities stated that no such decision had been made, the Department’s Additional Chief Secretary was instructed to examine the status of the work and submit a report.
