Bengaluru: In a curious case, the High Court directed a hospital here to hand over the dead body of a person to the relatives without waiting for the family of the deceased to clear the dues.
Priyanka Naidu, a resident of Sahakaranagar had moved to the High Court against a hospital which had declined to hand over her mother’s dead body, stating that the hospital bill is unpaid.
In her appeal, Priyanka had informed the court that she had admitted her mother to the hospital on October 13 and paid Rs.45,000. She died on October 23 and the hospital declined to give the dead body stating that the unpaid bill of Rs one lakh must be cleared first.
She informed the court that even though she met the Sadashivanagar police seeking justice, they didn’t help.
However, before the court could give its verdict, the advocate representing the hospital told the court that the hospital was ready to give the dead body to the family provided the family gives in writing that it would clear the bills.
