Bengaluru: The ISKCON (International Society of Krishna Consciousness) Temple, as announced by the temple officials on Wednesday, March 18, will be closed to the public from today until further notice. Public visits have been suspended as a result of the spread of the novel coronavirus (covid-19).
Asking the devotees not to panic, ISKCON Temple spokesperson Naveen Neerada Dasa informed ANI that the move is just a temporary precautionary measure. “The health and safety of the public is of utmost importance. I know many devotees are disappointed, but I urge them not to panic since this is only a precautionary measure,” he explained.
Clarifying about the daily rituals, he said, “The daily temple aartis and special sevas by the resident devotees will continue. These can be viewed live on the Temple’s official website.”
He added that the resident devotees are also taking extreme precautions. “We have sanitizers installed everywhere. We also maintain a distance of 3 feet from each other during aartis,” he said.
In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, many religious places have been asked to stop holding massive gatherings for fear of spreading the disease.
As of March 18, there are 13 confirmed covid-19 cases in the state.
