Bengaluru: The State Government has sent a letter to the Governor recommending Former High court Justice K L Manjunath for the post of the Upalokayukta here on Thursday.
Justice Manjunath, 62, retired from his post on April 20, 2015. He was enrolled as an advocate in 1974 and practised in the Karnataka High Court. He was appointed as an additional judge on December 11, 2000 and a permanent judge on October 27, 2001. Justice Manjunath is said to have accused few judges of the High court, their families and a Supreme Court judge for trying to tarnish his image in the last five years.
“There is no place for integrity and honesty and no justice for a judge in this country. If I do not reveal the truth today, it will be buried along with me.”, an emotional Manjunath had said.
The Upalokayukta post has been vacant since Justice S B Majage demitted office on July 17, 2015 after completing his five year term. Governor Vajubai Vala is yet to release his decision on the appointment.
