Leaders on temple run as countdown for by-poll result begins

temple run mainBengaluru: The crucial by-poll results will be out on Monday and before the results, the rebel leaders and prominent political leaders are on the temple run to seek divine blessings.

Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa will be in Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala on Sunday, where he will seek the blessings of Lord Manjunatha. He will visit the temple after attending the wedding ceremony of Speaker Vishwanatha Hegade Kageri’s daughter in Sagara.

Meanwhile, Hunsur BJP candidate and rebel leader H Vishwanath was in Shirdi Sai Baba Temple in Maharashtra. He then visited Manthralaya in Andhra Pradesh. His rival and Congress candidate Manjunath visited Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala. JDS candidate D Somashekar visited a local temple in Hunsuru and sought blessings of the deity.

Athani BJP candidate Mahesh Kumatalli visited local temples in Belagavi. Several other leaders too were seen visiting temples in their constituencies. Many other leaders like Vijayanagar BJP candidate Anand Singh were seen heaving a sigh of relief after the polling and relaxing with their family members.

The polling for the very crucial by-polls was held on December 5. The by-polls were held in 15 constituencies. It may be recalled as many as 17 MLAs of the coalition Congress and the JDS had quit their respective parties recently. This move led to the collapse of the coalition government.

The result of the by-polls will decide on the future of the ruling BJP government led by BS Yediyurappa, which need nine seats to remain in power. The exit polls have hinted at a smooth sail for the BJP, thereby safeguarding the BSY government.
