Bengaluru: With the idea of protecting the senior officials and personnel from possible Covid-9 infection, the state police department has decided to keep police officials and personnel above 55 years of age out of Covid-19 related duties.

Those with the history of diabetes, BP, heart and liver problems will also be kept out of the Covid-19 duties.

According to a decision taken by the DG-IPG Praveen Sood, only those who are fully healthy and young will be deputed for Covid-19 related duties like securing the border, check posts, investigation etc.

“The police personnel above 55 years of age will be deputed for duty in safe places,” added sources in the department.

This decision has been taken following the reports of death of a few police personnel in other states due to the Covid-19 infection.
