Bengaluru: The State Government proposed in the budget held on Friday March 4 to launch ‘Punyakoti Dattu Yojane’. The scheme is proposed to encourage public and the private institutions to adopt cows at cow shelters (Goshalas) by paying Rs 11,000 annually. Further, the budget also proposes to increase Goshala numbers to 100, and has earmarked Rs. 50 Crore in the budget for the purpose.
“For effective implementation of Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020 the Goshalas are proposed to be increased,” stated Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai in his budget presentation.
The budget also has made provision of financial assistance to implement conversion of waste generated in Goshalas in the State into eco-friendly products. Gomatha Sahakara Sangha’ will be established for marketing of cow produce, said CM Bommai.
