Bengaluru: Following a call for nationwide protest by 10 central trade unions on January 8 and 9, the city is likely to remain close.
The protest is against the “anti-trade” and “anti-labour” policies of the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) government.
Along with the trade unions even banks, insurance companies, and the BSNL too will be participating in the protest.
Although the auto and private taxi associations have decided to join hands in the protest, the app-driven-cab facility OLA and Uber have not yet decided upon it.
Meanwhile, the KSRTC and BMTC bus services are likely to be affected.
The protest is against the Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre which according to the unions has not fulfilled its promises.
Earlier, on September 28, at the National Convention of Workers, the unions had put forth several demands like minimum wages, abolition of contract labour, enforcement of labour laws and many more.
