Tumakuru: SFI District President and young advocate E. Shivanna has alleged that the Central and State Governments have amended the Labour Act to take away the rights of workers.

He was speaking at the World Labour Day celebrations organised at Pavagada Town in the District. “The labour movement in the country will have to grow in a big way if the labour law amendment is to be withdrawn,” he said. So he suggested that all the workers should unite.

“Workers need to come together as the Central and State Governments are implementing anti-labour policies and corporate policies. There has to be a fierce fight against price rise,” he said.

“The problem of unemployment in Pavagada Taluk is on a large scale. Hundreds of people from rural areas of the Taluk are migrating to other districts of the State. None of the MLAs of any party that came to power made efforts to build factories in the taluk,” he noted.

He alleged that he was not offered a job.

“If factories are built, hundreds of young men and women will get jobs. This will make the families financially strong,” he said.
