Honnavar: Two others have been detained by Honnavar Police in connection with the murder and communal violence following Paresh Mestha’s death. Police have arrested the accused in Sirsi in Uttara Kannada district.
Ahmad Faizal and Imtiyaz Ghani were arrested by Police Circle Inspector Cheluvaraj and his team. With this, the total number of arrests in the case has risen to five.
Violence had broken out after two groups fought over a trivial matter on December 6. Following the incident, Paresh Mesta, who was a mere witness to the fight went missing and was traced dead on December 8 in a lake in Honnavar.
This incident sparked violence in the district. Paresh’s father Kamalakar said that his son was murdered with a specific intention and that five were involved in the murder. Soon the case was handed over to the CBI.
