Karwar: Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ananth Kumar Hegde said here on Friday, March 15 that his father was against him contesting from the Bharatiya Janata Party and had termed his son a ‘disgrace’ to his family.

Addressing the party workers at Devalamakki village, he recollected the statements made by his father and said, “When I got the first ticket from the BJP to contest the MP elections, my father had said that his family had not voted for a BJP candidate till date.”

“He had called me a disgrace to the family as I contested from BJP”, he added.

Hegde said that his father was from the freedom struggle background and a staunch Congressman.

Making a sarcastic remark he said, “I have contested from BJP five times but I am not sure if my father has voted for me even once.”

“This time he said he’ll vote for BJP, not for me, but for Narendra Modi. I remarked that at least now my father was enlightened with the grace of God”, he added.

This video has now gone viral on social media.
