Karwar: The villagers of Halalla, Hutgara, Manujavalli, and Shantinagara have warned that they will boycott the elections if the authorities do not take action against the poultry industry which is affecting the environment in Hutgara Village of Sirsi Taluk.

The villagers who protested in front of the Hutgara Gram Panchayat said that the poultry industry has been going on without a legal license for several years in our area and the waste produced there is affecting the environment and drinking water. Similarly, even though the Government provided a vehicle for waste collection in our area one and a half years ago, the panchayats are not handling it properly and are creating havoc.

Action should be taken immediately. Otherwise the countryside will be full of garbage. And some parts of Jaljeevan Mission Adiyalki Hutgara and Halalla are not getting water supply.

If all these issues are not resolved within 5 days, they warned that they will boycott the 2023 general elections and submitted their demand petition. Tahasildar Dr. Sumantha accepted the request.
