Mangaluru: The Indian Army will organise a recruitment rally between April 4 and 14 at the Mahatma Gandhi stadium in Ajjarakad, Udupi. We are expecting people to participate in large numbers, said Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh on Tuesday, March 3.
Speaking to mediapersons, Sindhu said, “A total of 18,000 candidates have already registered online for the army recruitment rally and the youth should participate in more numbers. Registration for the rally began from February 16 and will remain open till March 20. Candidates, who are between the ages of 17 and 21 from 11 districts including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi Uttara Kannada, Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Dharwad, Davangere, Gadag, Haveri, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga, can participate in this recruitment rally.”
“The people of undivided Dakshina Kannada district pay maximum importance to their education and are not ready to discontinue their education to join the army. But, it is an opportunity for those who want to serve our country. The starting salary for newly recruited candidates will be Rs 32,000 per month and it will be increased after training,” she informed.
Army recruitment director Col Firdosh P Dubash informed that the recruitment is for posts such as soldier general duty, soldier technical, soldier tech nursing assist/ nursing assistant, soldier clerk/ storekeeper technical. Those who have passed SSLC are eligible for soldier tradesman,” he informed.
