Beach Utsav to enthrall audience from Dec 29-31

Mangaluru: Three day beach festival, as part Karavali Utsav will be held at Panambur beach from December 29 to 31.

Addressing a press meet, Yathish Baikampady, President of the Beach Festival announced that Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil will be inaugurating the beach festival on December 29, at around 4:30 pm at Panambur Beach.

Various sports and cultural events have been scheduled for all three days of the beach festival. On December 29, beach volleyball and throw-ball competitions will be held at around 9.30 am. A food festival will be inaugurated at around 5 pm and the dance festival and Tulu singing competitions will commence from 5.30pm.

“The teams participating in the dance and singing competition have already been selected through an audiion process. The winners of the contests will be given cash prizes and all the participants of the dance competition will be given Rs 6,000 per team. The top five singers will be given a chance to sing for Tulu and Kannada movies,” Yathish informed.

On December 30, there will be a concert by Samartha Shenoy and troupe at around 4 pm followed by the solo singing and group singing finals at around 5 pm.

He also revealed that, on December 30, there will be a yoga programme which will be held at the beach at around 5 am. Singer Swathi Rao and her team will perform a concert at around 6.30 am. A stand up peddling competition, surfing competition and sand sculpture competition will start from 9.30 am.

At 5 pm there will be a Yakshaganamurtha performance by Yakshadruva Patla Sathish Shetty.

On Dec 30, the Karavali Utsava valedictory ceremony will be held at 5.30 pm which will be followed by a music concert at 6.30 pm by Ashwin Sharma and team, however, events will continue with concert of ‘Swarathma’, by Vasu Dixith and team at 9 pm. With events spanning till 12 mid night the gathering will wind up the programme y welcoming year 2018.
Yathish has requested that the audience for the new year celebrations be present at the beach before 8.30 pm on December 30. Entry post this time will be restricted.

The working President of the Beach Festival, Shrikanth Rao, was also present at the press meet.
