Brijesh Chowta, the Secretary of the Karnataka unit of the BJP and the party’s candidate for the Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency, accused the Congress-led state government of failing to initiate any new development projects since coming into power.
Speaking at a convention organized by the Mangaluru City South Assembly unit, Chowta, a former Captain in the Indian Army, criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for not laying the foundation stone for any new projects during the Congress’s tenure. He specifically targeted the district in-charge Minister and Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dinesh Gundu Rao, alleging a lack of new initiatives in Dakshina Kannada.
Chowta also expressed his views on Hindutva, defining it as the empowerment of every Hindu. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reducing terrorist activities and corruption during his leadership.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament for Dakshina Kannada, emphasized the importance of securing a substantial victory margin for Chowta, urging party workers to focus on increasing votes at every booth.
The event also saw speeches from D. Vedavyasa Kamath, MLA for Mangaluru City South, and Satish Kumpala, president of the Dakshina Kannada unit of the BJP.
Earlier in the day, Chowta visited the Kudroli Gokarnanatha temple in the city.
