Amidst all the preparations and excitement, the flexes and hoardings for the upcoming Mangalore DYFI is s conflict on whether to have or not to have a certain display.
The display in question here is that of a once famous 18th century Indian ruler Tipu Sultan, which a lot of people believe to deserve no place here.
Amidst posters of Koti Chennaya, Basavanna, Karl; Marx and Ambedkar, here is one that most people out there are just not happy about. The cut out was mainly the work of the CPI (M)s youth wing, being six feet tall and highly visible to all, placed right above the DYFI banner.
The conflict has in fact drawn a lot of attention, with some even pointing out that the Konaje police did not come forward with permission for that large cutout now seen next to the DYFI office in Harlekar.
From this, it is only normal that authorities have now begun to intervene into the matter and demand that the cutout be removed, though the reason for the conflict remains unknown, to the extent that supporters of the statue have come forward to question hoardings that the BJP chose to use.
From this, one can only see how an event that was supposed to be cause for celebration has instead become a source of worry and confusion.
However, nothing has been done so far as the Harlekar Panchayat PDO was absent. Meanwhile, those in support of the statue express their discontent over the matter, with the DYFI president Imtiaz himself stating that the police cannot enforce the removal of the cutout.
The president further asserted that one had to safeguard hoardings of all leaders, even that of Rani Abakka.
