Mangaluru: The state government is planning to construct double bedroom houses at a cost of Rs 9.45 Lakh each, for the flood-affected victims of the Kodagu district.

Speaking to reporters at the Circuit House on Friday, November 30, Khader said, “Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has already approved the plan and the construction work will get started on December 8. The victims will be provided with individual houses. Until the construction gets over, the families will be provided Rs 10,000 as monthly house rent”, he said.

Khader said, “Government has already constructed a model house. There are six different models of the houses and the flood victims can opt for the type they want.

Illegal construction: Engineer also will be held responsible

Khader informed that there is a plan to get an amendment to the Town Planning Act in order to check illegal constructions. “Earlier, if there was an illegal construction, only the owner of that building was getting punished. But, now we are planning to make an amendment to the Act in order to hold the engineers also responsible for the illegal construction. The draft copy is ready and we will get the cabinet approval in the next winter session”, he said.
