Mangalureans need not worry about cash shortfall in ATMs

Mangaluru: With the recent news of the cash ‘drought’ hitting various cities, people all over are getting increasingly worried about the supply of currency all over the country.

Residents of the undivided Dakshina Kannada district, can rest easy as a survey conducted in the region has found that ATMs in these districts have cash and bank officials have confirmed that there is no cause for worry.

A bank manager of Syndicate Bank of the DK district, Raghava Yajamanya has said that he hasn’t received any complaints regarding shortage of cash in any of their ATMs.

State Bank officials have also said that there was no shortage of cash in their ATMs as they were instructed by their corporate office to see that their ATMs were replenished.

Several other banks in the district have also confirmed that their ATMs have enough cash and no complaints of a shortfall have emerged.

The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Karnataka Bank, M S Mahabaleshwara has said that it is not out of the usual for at least 10 to 20 per cent of the ATMs at the national level to face shortages as the demand and supply scenario of cash is quite volatile.

In addition to confirming that there have been no shortages of cash in the ATMs, the security guards posted outside these ATMs have also said that there have been no long queues in front of the ATMs either.
