Mangaluru: Customs Officials at the International Airport here foiled a massive gold smuggling attempt in February and seized 1 kg and 625 grams of gold.
In operations conducted between February 1 and 15, the authorities seized the gold, which was being illegally transported from five male passengers who arrived from Dubai and Bahrain.
The market value of the seized gold is Rs. 91,35,850. Apart from gold, the Indian rupees worth 6,54,750 were seized. The foreign currency notes were seized from a passenger.
