To ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate has initiated preventive measures to uphold peace and order. Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal announced the issuance of externment orders under the Karnataka Police Act against seven individuals with a criminal background. The duration of their externment from Dakshina Kannada district is three months.
In addition to externment orders, security bonds for a period of one year have been executed for 286 individuals identified as habitual offenders likely to breach the peace. Commissioner Agrawal emphasized that these measures are aimed at maintaining peace and encouraging good behavior among residents.
The individuals against whom externment orders have been issued include Preetham alias Abhilash from Ashoknagara, Hemanth alias Sonu from Urwa, Shivaraj alias Shivu from Kotekar, Edwin Rahul D’Souza alias Rahul from Lakshmi Gudde in Someshwara, Ibrahim from Melangadi in Ullal, Praveen Poojary from Kodikal 6th Cross, and Mohamad Musthafa alias Musthafa from Belma in Deralakatte.
Commissioner Agrawal provided details of the criminal records associated with these individuals. Preetham faces six cases under various IPC Sections including the NDPS Act, lodged in Urwa, Kavoor, and Mangaluru East police stations. Hemanth has four cases, including those under the Arms Act, registered in Urwa station. Shivaraj has five cases recorded in Ullal and Kankanady town stations. Edwin Rahul has two cases in Ullal station limits, Ibrahim faces four cases in Ullal station, Praveen has five cases in Mangaluru East, Mangaluru South, Mysuru, and Kavoor stations, and Mohammed Mustafa has six cases filed in Uppinangady, Bajpe, Moodbidri, and Konaje stations.
