Mangaluru: Marking its steadfast commitment to safety, Mangaluru International Airport inaugurated the 53rd National Safety Week on Monday, March 4. The week-long observance, from March 4 to March 10, revolves around the theme ‘Focus on Safety Leadership for Environmental, Social, and Governance Excellence.’
Chief Airport Officer Mukesh Nankani spearheaded the opening ceremony by unfurling the national safety flag, administering the safety oath, and recognizing the dedication of staff and stakeholders to safety. Nankani emphasized that true safety is achieved when incidents related to safety reach zero, urging everyone present to view safety as an ongoing effort rather than a mere statistical achievement.
The day featured awards for winners of various competitions, including quizzes for staff and stakeholders, poster contests for elders and children (up to Class V) of staff members, and recognition for safety-conscious employees.
As part of the safety week initiatives, Mangaluru International Airport has planned a health checkup camp on March 6 and a road safety awareness campaign on March 7. These activities reflect the airport’s holistic approach to fostering a culture of safety and well-being among its staff and users.
