Mangaluru: In a somber turn of events, three young men attending the Panambur Beach Utsav in Mangaluru, Karnataka, are feared to have drowned in the Arabian Sea. The incident occurred on Sunday evening as the group, ignoring coast guard warnings, ventured into the sea and was hit by a large wave. The missing individuals were identified as 20-year-old Milan, an employed delivery boy, 18-year-old Likith, a first-year student at a government pre-university, and 24-year-old Nagaraj, a supervisor with a local company.
Despite loudspeaker announcements cautioning beachgoers to stay alert and avoid approaching the waves, the crowd, including the ill-fated group, went ahead with their beach visit. Due to high winds and increased weekend footfall, the coast guards faced challenges in managing the situation. As a result, the three men were dragged deeper into the sea, prompting an immediate search operation.
Expressing grief over the incident, Karnataka Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao emphasized the need for safety and caution when venturing into the sea. He stated, “It’s saddening to hear that three young men are feared to have drowned at Panambur Beach in Mangaluru. Search operations are currently in full swing, and our government extends its strong support to the families of the victims during this difficult hour.”
The tragic loss of young lives underscores the importance of adhering to safety guidelines and exercising caution when enjoying coastal activities. Authorities continue their efforts to locate the missing individuals amidst the distressing turn of events.
