Mangaluru: Congress Leaders are lobbying to get tickets as elections are approaching. It is speculated that Mangaluru Congress Youth Congress General Secretary Ashith Pereira, who is seeking a ticket from Mangaluru South Constituency, has made a call to Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President D. K. Shivakumar through Janardhana Poojary.

Pereira met Senior Congress Leader Janardhana Poojary at his residence in Bantwal and called up KPCC President DK Shivakumar, it is said. Viral video is doing the rounds showing Janardhana Poojary has resorted to pressure tactics to give him a ticket instead of Former MLA J. R. Lobo.

Video shows Poojary calling up DK Shivakumar and mentioning that Youth Congress Leader Ashit Pereira has come to me. Is there anything that you can do that he can be fielded from Mangaluru South”? He also states that Pereira is also a Christian just like Lobo.

The 85-year-old veteran, appears to be being misused by Congress Leaders in the Coastal areas for their ticket lobbying.

Former MLAs J. R. Lobo and Ivan D’Souzatoo have been lobbying hard to get tickets from Mangaluru South. Hindu Leaders of the Congress have also lobbied that if the Billavas are given a ticket to take on the weapon of Hindutva, they will win. But in the past, the Congress had reserved a seat in Mangalore for the Christian Community.
