Mangaluru: Shaikh Riyaz, who owns a mobile shop near the Old Central Market in the City, has been duped of Rs 6.39 lakh by Gayaz, who owns a shop at Gangolli in Kundapur. A case has been registered at the Bunder Police Station for allegedly duping people by purchasing a mobile phone and not giving money.

On February 12, 2021, Gayaz came to the shop and had purchased 62 mobile phones from different companies which cost Rs. 6.39 lakh. Riyaz knew him well as he used to buy a mobile phone from him. After purchasing the mobile phone, he withdrew some money from the ATM and promised to bring it back.

Gayaz switched off his mobile when Riyaz called him. The next day, when he called again, he told him that the money was yet to come and he would give it when it arrived. By giving this reason, he passed many days.

Later in the day, when the complainant checked the CCTV cameras in the shop, he learnt that three mobile phones which cost Rs. 57,000 was taken away by Gayaz without anyone’s knowledge.

According to the complaint, he cheated him by not paying for the mobile phones purchased.
