Mangaluru: The representatives of the people from the city were seen on May 30 helping people stranded by the heavy rains that lashed the region yesterday.
MLA from Mangaluru South Vedavyas Kamath and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inspected the areas affected by the floods and coordinated relief and rescue operations.
Vedavayas Kamath, who visited the 10 wards affected by the artificial floods by noon, informed reporters that arrangements have been made for providing shelter and food for 500 victims. In the afternoon he visted another 28 wards and listened to the concerns of the residents affected by the floods. He also promised suitable compensation for the victims.
