Mangaluru: There is no definite information on how many kannadigas are stuck in Afghanistan, said Home Minister Araga Jnanendra and informed that a CID officer has been appointed as a nodal officer for the purpose.

He was speaking to media persons on Friday August 20 at the Bajpe Airport here and said that while Central Government has been making arrangements to bring them back to India, the State Government is cooperating with the Centre. Umesh, a CID officer has been made the nodal officer and anyone who wants help can contact the officer, he informed.

Meanwhile, responding to the setting up of the NIA Office in Mangaluru, there has been instances of terrorist activities on this part of the coast, which has been taken as a serious matter. It has been decided to keep a strict vigil on such activities and hence currently the Police Department has been ordered to step up. After discussion with the Centre, the setting up of NIA office will be deliberated upon, Jnanendra added.
