Prashanth Poojary murder case: One more accused detained

Moodbidri: One more accused in the recent flower vendor and right wing activist murder case has been detained near Gantalkatte Bus stand on Monday October 26.

Reportedly the accused who was absconding was nabbed when he was waiting for bus in Gantalkatte bus stand on Monday. He is the tenth accused arrested in the case.

Other accused Mohammed Imthiyaz (40), Mohammed Hanif (36), a resident of Adyapady, Mohammed Ilyas (27), a resident of Moodbidri, Ibrahim Liyaqat (26) of Bantwal, and Abdul Rashid (39) of Mulky, Mohammed Sharif (42), Mustafa Kavoor (28), Mohammed Mustafa (25) and Kabeer (28), who were earlier arrested were produced in the court. They have been taken to custody till October 31.

Prashanth Poojary, a flower vendor and rightwing activist was murdered on October 9 while he was carrying flowers to his shop at around 7 am. Prashanth’s indulgence in illegal cow slaughter and past communal riots are said to be the main reasons behind the murder, as revealed by the arrested.

However, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner S Murugan earlier during press meet had urged people to refrain from giving it a communal angle and said that a section of people involved in spreading such rumours will be nabbed and subjected to stringent punishment.
