Rickshaw drivers in the city protest seeking justice

Mangaluru: Several auto rickshaw drivers held a protest rally on Monday August 31, condemning the recent incidents of murder and assault on auto drivers.

The protest was organized by Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Auto Rickshaw Division along with various other organizations here.

Ali Hassan, president of Minority Auto Rickshaw Drivers’ and Owners’ Association said, “We need the accused to be arrested, the district administration needs to be concerned or else no rickshaw will operate after 7 in the evening.  

President of HMS Auto Rickshaw Union, Alphonse D’Souza, Hamza of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Rickshaw Division were present and also spoke during the protest. They urged for the security of the Rickshaw drivers. They further demanded the district representatives to take a stock of the issue.
