In a tragic incident near Halekote petrol bunk in Kasaba village, Belthangady, a fatal accident claimed the life of a two-wheeler rider named Purushotham on Monday.
Purushotham, accompanied by Taufiq as the pillion rider, was struck by a pickup vehicle, leading to their fall onto the road. Despite immediate medical attention, Purushotham succumbed to his injuries at the Belthangady government hospital.
Meanwhile, Taufiq, receiving primary treatment, was swiftly transferred to a hospital in Mangaluru. The pickup driver fled the scene, prompting authorities to initiate an investigation. A case has been lodged at the Belthangady traffic police station.
