In a tragic incident at a Deemed University in Doddaballapura, Bengaluru, a 19-year-old B.Tech student, Dasari Brahma Sai Reddy, was discovered dead on the hostel premises. The college management has been charged with death by negligence (IPC 304A) in connection with the student’s demise.
Reddy, hailing from Nandyala district in Andhra Pradesh, was found deceased on Tuesday evening around 7.30 pm. A first-year computer science student, he resided in the university’s hostel situated within the campus. The unfortunate incident occurred when he fell from the sixth floor of the building, where construction work was underway.
According to investigating officers, there was no indication of any premeditated act as no death note was found. Reddy’s laptop was recovered, although his mobile phone was severely damaged in the fall. Upon hearing a loud noise, fellow students rushed out of their rooms, and the warden and security guard discovered Reddy’s lifeless body.
The circumstances surrounding Reddy’s fall remain unclear. Despite ongoing construction activities on the sixth floor, there were no restrictions on student movement in the area. Consequently, both the university management and the construction workers have been implicated in the investigation.
The police are awaiting the Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) report to determine the exact cause of Reddy’s death. Following the postmortem at Doddaballapura Government Hospital, Reddy’s body has been handed over to his agriculturist parents from Andhra Pradesh.
The Doddaballapura rural police have initiated an investigation into the case to unravel the circumstances leading to this tragic event.
