In a devastating incident that unfolded on Friday afternoon at Mudipu Junction, a man identified as Siddique (48), a resident of Karopadi in Bantwal, lost his life after being fatally struck by a speeding car. Having recently returned from working in the Gulf, Siddique had been back in his hometown for just two months, residing in an apartment at Deralakatte.
The unfortunate incident occurred after Siddique offered Namaz on Friday afternoon and was en route home. Following his disembarkation from a bus at Mudipu Junction, he paused at a nearby ATM to withdraw money. Tragically, while crossing the road to catch another bus, Siddique was struck by a car headed towards Mangaluru, driven by Soorajnath. Suffering severe head injuries from the impact, Siddique passed away during transportation to a private hospital.
Scheduled to return to a Gulf nation the following week after his vacation, Siddique leaves behind grieving parents, a wife, and three children. A case has been registered at the south traffic police station in connection with the incident.
This tragic incident echoes a similar fatality at Mudipu Junction, where Kartik (12) lost his life on December 27, 2022. The earlier incident occurred near Mudipu Junior College, highlighting the hazards faced by pedestrians due to encroachment on the footpath by shop owners. Concerned members of the public are urging the administration to address the inconvenience faced by pedestrians along this stretch of the road.
