Mangaluru: A huge mango tree fell on an autorickshaw near Kotekar Town Panchayat but the passengers and autorickshaw drivers had a narrow escape in the incident on Monday, April 22.
According to sources, an autorickshaw was ferrying five passengers including two children from Thalapady to Someshwar today. When it reached near Kotekar Town Panchayat, a big mango tree came crashing down. It is said that autorickshaw driver Umesh Poojary suddenly stopped his vehicle when the tree fell down. As a result, only a branch of the tree fell on the autorickshaw. The situation would have been different if the driver had not used his presence of mind, sources informed.
After the incident, traffic movement was disrupted for a while.
