Udupi: Neha Shetty is a rising badminton star of Tulunadu at the international level. Daughter of Naresh Shetty and Vijaya N Shetty, residents of Valakadu in Udupi, presently settled in Doha Qatar, Neha is a class seven student of DPS-MIS school. She has won several prizes since childhood in the field of sports.
She has brought name and fame to Qatar Badminton Association at the GCC level at the young age of 12. In the recently held singles and doubles badminton competition for participants below 12 years of age, she bagged the title and also won the title of No.1 player in singles.
She started her badminton career in 2011. Some of her achievements are the 2013 Kings quarter badminton open singles-first place, 2014 Kings Quarter badminton open singles-second place and in doubles first place, GCC Open quarter doubles-second place, 2015 quarter open singles-second place and quarter open-first place.
In the singles category, Neha beat Rim Siraj with three sets in the finals (scores 12-21, 21-16, 21-6) and also crushed Sadhwi Krishna in the doubles.
Neha is trained by Manoj Shahibjan of Qatar Badminton association. In the history of Qatar Badminton Association, this is the first achievement in by Neha at the GCC level in a competition held outside Qatar.
