This action follows the recent murder of Anjali Ambiger. The suspension comes amid allegations of negligence by the police department, who reportedly failed to take action despite Anjali’s parents informing them about threats to her life.

The twin cities of Hubballi-Dharwad have witnessed a rise in stabbing and murder incidents. A significant number of such cases also occurred during the tenure of previous commissioner, Labhu Ram.

Sahil Bagla, who served as DCP before M Rajeev, was also unable to address the repeated stabbing incidents. His tenure was cut short, and he was transferred quickly.

On Saturday evening, Anjali’s sister, Yashodha Ambiger, reportedly attempted suicide. Devastated by the loss and angered by the news of her sister’s murderer receiving hospital treatment, Yashodha allegedly consumed phenyl. She was rushed to KIMS Hospital and is currently recovering.

On Sunday, MLA Arvind Bellad visited Anjali’s family to offer condolences. He assured them of the support of opposition leaders.
