Chikkamagaluru: Many people travelling in their own mode of transport were seen cursing cops who broke the law at will in Mudigere while overseeing security operations for Tipu Jayanthi on November 10.
The only question that was making rounds among those travelling past Lions Club circle in the town was “Who will rein in when policemen break laws?” The taluk level Tipu Jayanthi celebrations were scheduled to take place at Adyanthaya Auditorium near Lion’s Club circle. The town is facing lot of traffic problems due to increase in traffic on the main roads.

Apart from the regular traffic flow, many people visit the taluk headquarters in their own vehicles. Policemen on duty enforce rules when the car owners stop their vehicles for a brief period on the roads and do not permit passengers to alight by the side of the road.

People were shocked to see many police vehicles parked in the heart of the town causing inconvenience to the public. Some were seen asking, “Is the law different for these people?” Many visitors felt police could install barricades at select points and regulate the traffic but cannot break laws at will.
