Chamarajanagara: The Ugadi Rathotsava (car festival) was celebrated on Wednesday March 22 in a grand manner at Male Mahadeshwara Hill in Hanur Taluk of the District, a famous pilgrimage spot of the region. Thousands of devotees chanted and prayed to Mahadev.
A large number of devotees have reached Srikshetra on foot. This time the 108 feet tall statue of Mahadeshwara is the new attraction of the Shrine.
A tight security arrangement was made by the Police Department in the wake of the Rathotsava.
A sea of devotees had flocked to the hill for the Mahashivaratri fair. Due to this, the authority has also got huge income. Mahashivaratri festival was celebrated from February 17 to 21 and 12 lakh people visited the place during these days.
Various festivals, Laddu Prasad and other services were performed by the devotees. It has been reported that the Male Mahadeshwara Hill Development Authority has received Rs. 2.7 Crore income in just 5 days.
