Mysuru: Dasara Jumbo Gopalaswamy killed in elephant attack

Mysuru: Gopalaswamy (39), one of the Mysuru Dasara elephants, died on Wednesday November 23.

According to sources, Gopalaswamy had gone for grazing in the Mathigodu elephant camp at Nagarahole National Park on Tuesday. It was injured at this time when an elephant herd attacked it.

Gopalaswamy was captured at Sakleshpura of Hassan District in the year 2009.

For the last eight years, it had taken part in the famous Mysuru Dasara celebration.

Gopalaswamy used to be assigned to operations to capture wild elephants and tigers.
