Mysuru: Former Minister and Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Saits’s statement that they will also build a statue of 100-feet-tall Tipu has created a lot of confusion among Congress leaders.

Various statements are now being heard from Congress leaders about this statement and there is doubt whether Tanveer Sait has given the stand of the Congress party or has made such a statement in haste.

This is an indication that there is no consensus among Congress leaders.

The statement made by Tanveer created has created difference of opinion between party members. Now, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah supports Tanveer’s statement, while KPCC President D. K. Shivakumar said that he will discuss the same with Tanveer. Shivakumar said that the party should not be limited to one religion. While it seems that Siddaramaiah is trying to ensure that his vote bank does slip from his hands.

Speaking to the mediapersons on Sunday November 13, Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah and former Minister Tanveer Sait defended the construction of the statue by saying what is wrong with installing the Tipu statue? Siddaramaiah further said that BJP leaders are twisting history for political gains.

Congress campaign Committee President M. B. Patil also commented that Tipu fought against the British. Kittoor Rani Chennamma, Sangolli Rayanna, Belawadi Mallamma fought against the British. If their idols are desired, no one should object. He defended Tanveer Sait’s statement that they all fought for freedom.
