Mysuru: Flying squad seizes Rs 19L worth food items, cash and gold

Mysuru: The officials are on full alert in District following enforcement of election Code of Conduct. Many checkposts are set up in border and many places to prevent violations.

The Police has seized cash and goods that were illegally transported without documents at many checkposts in the District. The flying squad team raided a warehouse of a house in Sunpure Garden Layout of Hanchya Village in Mysuru Taluk and seized food items worth Rs. 19 Lakh.

On Sunday April 2, the flying squad raided on the basis of a definite information, and 732 bags of rice weighing 26 kgs each, a total of 722 kit bags of food items such as oil, soap, semolina, paste and other food items, 146 boxes of 10 pouches each of cooking oil belonging to reputed company, 72 boxes of 10 pouches each of Vanaspati, 12 bottles of sharbat each and 60 juice boxes were seized. The total value of these stocks is estimated at Rs 19,69,647.

The stockholders said that these stocks came to Masoom Trust through CSR Fund and were kept for distribution to poor families. However, there was no proper documentation in this regard. According to the release, the flying squad raided on the instructions of the Election Officer of Chamundeshwari Assembly Constituency and confiscated the materials.

The Police seized Rs. 4 Lakh cash which was being carried without documents at the Bhuvanahalli Checkpost of Hospet Taluk. This money was transported from Ballari to Hubballi. A case has been registered at Hospet Rural Police Station in this regard.
On the other hand, Rs. 2 Lakh of cash was seized by election officials on being transported without documents in the Hoovina Hadagali Check Post and registered a case. Money was found in a car going from Hirekerur to Magal and a case was registered in Hirehadagali Police Station. Police seized money and gold being transported without documents at TB Dam Checkpost in Hosapete. During the Police inspection, 20 grams of gold and 80000 in cash were found. The seized gold is estimated to be worth Rs. 11 Lakh 50 thousand. Money and gold were being taken in a car from Mantralaya towards Bengaluru.
