Mysuru: In a latest twist to the BJP’s fiasco in Varuna Constituency, it was announced that T Basavaraju would be the face of BJP for the Assembly elections. Basavaraju, who is a staunch follower of RSS leader Santosh, filed his nominations on April 24 ending the melodrama.
It may be recalled that Vijayendra, son of B S Yeddyurappa, who was confident of getting ticket and B form from the BJP party had campaigned in Varuna for the past 15 days. Even Yeddyurappa and many other senior BJP leaders had campaigned in Varuna Constituency supporting Vijayendra.
After BJP national leaders refused ticket to Vijayendra to contest from Varuna constituency, his upset followers had turned violent and even pelted stones on BJP office in Mysuru on April 23. In Mysuru, police had resorted to lathi-charge to disperse angry protesters.
