In a significant development, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader BS Yediyurappa has confirmed that the Karnataka police have filed a sexual assault complaint against him. Reacting to the allegations under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), Yediyurappa emphasized his innocence while ruling out any political conspiracy behind the grave accusation.
Yediyurappa’s Response
Yediyurappa recounted that a woman whom he had assisted approached him with tears, alleging wrongdoing. Upon hearing her grievances, he promptly contacted the police commissioner to address the matter. However, he expressed shock when the situation escalated into an FIR, stressing his commitment to contest the allegations legally.

The Bengaluru police have registered a case under the POCSO Act against Yediyurappa based on a complaint filed by the mother of a 17-year-old girl. The complaint accuses the BJP leader of sexually assaulting her daughter during a meeting in February.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara confirmed the filing of the complaint and assured that the police are investigating the matter. Refraining from divulging further details, Parameshwara highlighted the importance of conducting a thorough investigation before making any comments.

According to the complaint, the 81-year-old BJP leader allegedly sexually assaulted the woman’s daughter on February 2. The police have booked Yediyurappa under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and the Indian Penal Code.
