The Indian puri often comes out as the easier, tastier alternative of the dry and tiring chapathi. But the problem arises with the big question of, is it healthy?
Well, from now on it is, thanks to chef Neha Deepak Shah and her viral video on how to make a healthier puri.
So, off with the kadai and the oil, for she is here to teach you how to boil those puris, with zero oil. And we hope you all are still reading because this is a recipe from a restaurateur, scientist, and best of all, the masterchef runner-up, with three million views on Instagram.
Now, we wouldn’t want to miss it, would we? Then, on to the recipe. Like always, you have a bowl with wheat flour and salt. But this time, you add the dahl. (a tablespoon and a half would be fine. Now add water just as you do as always.
And then, here are some extra tips if you want to make the best of your puris. For one, add some yogurt to the dough. And then, if you have the time and patience, let the dough sit for a period of 20 minutes.
Mix, knead and follow the procedure that you do as always till the time you put it into the pan with oil. This time you replace this with a pot of water. In other words, you cook it, not in oil, but water, as always for about two to three minutes.
And your healthy, tasty puris are ready? Simple and quick, wasn’t it? Well, that should give you enough time to prepare the good old bhaji.
