The police have honored a mother and daughter for their courageous resistance against two armed men who broke into their Hyderabad home on Thursday afternoon, ostensibly to rob them.
When the doorbell rang at 2:00 pm, Amita Mehot, 42, and her daughter were home. Two men told the maid to answer, saying they needed to deliver a package. Although they were instructed to wait outside, Sushil, one of them, produced a gun, and Premchand, another, put a knife to the maid’s throat.
The two then forced their way into the house and demanded that all valuables be handed over to them. They did not, however, reckon on the brave mother-daughter duo, who kicked Sushil and screamed for help.
Additionally, as the two would-be robbers attempted to flee, CCTV footage showed the two women attempting to apprehend one of them. Premchand was apprehended by nearby residents. Sushil was apprehended after managing to get away.
About a year ago, the two men were employed by the family, according to the police. Amita’s complaint has resulted in the registration of a case. With proud father and husband Navratan in attendance, Rohini Priyadarshini, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), presented awards to the two women.
