Mangaluru: The Part 2 episode 4 of News Karnataka’s definitive HR talk show, People @ Work on the topic, Esoteric Leadership was held on Sunday October 31.

Ramesh Ranjan, Editor and founder of HumanEngineers.com, a popular HR website that deals with managing the people side of the business hosted the event.

Special guest of the event was Dr. Adil Malia, CEO, The Firm. The veteran HR leader has worked at many companies like Coco-Cola, Essar, and Marks & Spencer among others. He is an expert in Law, Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Marketing etc. He writes for many magazines, and also is a well known keynote speaker. He did his Degree in Commerce as well as in Law and Master’s in HRM from TISS. He has also attended Coca-Cola Wharton Advance Management Programme. He was awarded Doctorate in Philosophy in ‘Causa Honoris.’.

Adil said, ”people can create magical solutions. The greatest blunder in an organisation is thinking that humans are only resource. When I began my career as a lawyer, there was a youth strike and everyone thought I was a very reserved person. But I was the one who approached the man sitting in a legal position and convinced him to take back the strike. That is when I understood I have the potential to convince people, and hence I can do something else on these lines.“

“I was in Coco-Cola where 40 cultures were united into single one, and truly it was great task for us. The 3 challenges HR field is facing are model of business during pandemic, introducing of the digital resources for the people in the organisation and the changing economy. During the pandemic, what every organisation understood was that it is the age of perennials and not millenials. HR plays the role of employee and business integrator. On one hand, going by guts is very important but on the other hand data based analysation is also needed for HR, he added.”

Further he said, “if I was not in HR profession then I would be a lawyer or in the marketing field. The science part of HR may vanish but the arts part i.e mysticism, magic of HR will remain the same. When I was in JAE, Bob Amar influenced me. I learnt many things related to HR from him. I would like to take selfie with Bob Amar, Bill Gates, Azim Premji who inspire and train the people.
