Padubidri (Udupi): Pockets of Udupi district have been bruised by sea erosion and assessing the same, Revenue Minister R Ashok said that the state government is alert and it has taken all necessary steps to ensure that the damages that happened last year during the rainy season do not happen this year.
Visiting the erosion hit Padubidri village of Udupi district, on Friday, he said that Rs 20 lakhs have been released for Fire department to purchase equipment necessary to combat flood situation.
“The district in-charge ministers have been asked to return to their respective districts to supervise the flood situation. Barring Kodagu, the situation in all other districts is under control,” he said.
He informed that funds will be released under National Disaster Relief Fund for Padubidri to tackle the sea erosion. While Rs 3.5 cr is available under the Natural Calamity Fund, additional Rs 5 cr have been released.
District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary among others were present.
