Mangaluru: To commemorate the 25th anniversary of India’s second successful nuclear tests at Pokhran (Pokhran-II), in May 1998, 2 KAR ENGR COY NCC on behalf of NCC Group HQ, Mangalore, organized a Science exhibition at the NIT-K, Surathkal on 6 and 7 May 2023.
The exhibition showcased the history of India’s nuclear programme, its architects and scientists, through charts, models and audio-visual presentations. Models of various Indian missiles, aircraft, tank, naval vessels and other Defence equipment were also on display. A Weapons display was also organised by NCC in collaboration with ITBP. A movie screening (Parmanu) was organized for all in the evening at the NITK campus.
There was enthusiastic participation from NCC cadets of various units of Mangalore, Surathkal, Manipal and Udupi who came in large numbers to visit the exhibition, some of them accompanied by their parents and other family members too. Students, staff and faculty of NITK also visited the exhibition. NCC Cadets of various units of Group HQ Mangalore and NITK students also wholeheartedly participated in the Science quiz held exclusively for them. All the visitors were enthralled by the display put up in the science exhibition, and went back feeling proud of our country’s strength and achievement
