SAPUC students showcase skills at Talent Festival Pulse – 2023

Mangaluru: “Fueling Evolution, Igniting Breakthroughs” was an apt theme for St. Aloysius PU College Mega Talent Festival festival – a series of intellectual and cultural competitions, Pulse- 2023, a series of cultural competitions spread over a fortnight began on an enthusiastic and energetic note with an inaugural function.

The Inaugural Ceremony was held in the presence of the Principal, Rev. Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ, Finance Officer, Rev. Fr Pradeep Sequeira SJ, Campus Minister, Rev. Fr Anthony Derrick SJ, Vice Principals, Muralikrishna G M and Vilma Fernandes Deans, Dr Pradeep M and Kiran Fernandes, Staff and students in the Pretorium.

A band performance attracted the crowd of students and staff followed by the unravelling of the event banner while the dignitaries performed an experiment which resulted in colourful foam elephants. The Principal Rev. Fr Clifford Sequeira, by using a chemistry trick, lit the Phoenix Bird on fire to symbolise a new beginning.

Numerous competitions were held, to showcase various skills of the students such as rangoli making, pencil sketching, nail art, hairstyling, storytelling, Kannada poem composing, fusion singing, soap carving, mono acting, wealth out of waste, photography, pick and speak (Hindi), and the variety entertainment competition. Nearly 900 students participated in these competitions.

One of the days was allocated to bring out their innovative thinking and creativity through an exciting and mindboggling intellectual fest titled ‘Genesis-2023’

The Commerce and Arts Fest with the tagline ‘Passion, Purpose, Progress’ included 9 competitions namely Mock Press, Public Relations, Hard Sell, Political Campaigning, Report Writing, Business Quiz, Turncoat, Business Plan and Battle of Brands. The Science Fest with the theme ‘Discover, Innovate, Inspire’ included 10 competitions namely Rubik’s Cube Challenge, Model Making, Documentary Making, Video Juggling, Science Fiction Story Writing, Quiz, Scientific Rangoli Making, 21 Questions, Mock Press and Poster Making.

The Overall Championship in the Commerce and Arts Fest – I PUC was won by Batch I 21 BSBA.

The 1st Runners up were Batch I 31 HESPsy/HsESPsy .

The 2nd Runners up were Batch I 20 BEBA. II PUC was won by Batch II 23 SEBA.

The 1st Runners up were Batch II 27 CSBA and the 2nd Runners up were Batch II 20 BSBA.

The Overall Championship in the Science Fest – I PUC was won by Batch I 12 PCMC.

The 1st Runners up were Batch I 17 SIB NEET and the 2nd Runners up were Batch I 16 SIB JEE.

II PUC was won by Batch II 4 PCMB. The 1st Runners up were Batch II 9 PCMC and the 2nd Runners up were Batch II 15 SIB NEET.

Pulse -2023 concluded with a colourful and lively Variety Entertainment Competition.

The Overall Championship for Pulse 2023 – I PUC Commerce and Arts was won by I 21 BSBA Batch.

The 1st Runners up were Batch I 31 HESPsy/HsESPsy.

The 2nd Runners up were Batch I 20 BEBA. II PUC Commerce and Arts was won by II 30 HESPsy/HsESPsy Batch.

The 1st Runners up were Batch II 19 BSBA and the 2nd Runners up were Batch II 28 CSBA.

The Overall Championship for Pulse 2023 – I PUC Science was won by I 5 PCMB Batch. The 1st Runners up were Batch I 2 PCMB and the 2nd Runners up were Batch I 17 SIB NEET. II PUC Science was won by II 4 PCMB Batch. The 1st Runners up were Batch II 10 PCMC and the 2nd Runners up were Batch II 1 PCMB.

A valedictory ceremony brought the show to a close with the announcement of the winners of the Pulse as Second PU Batch 4 and First PU Batch 5. The Principal, Rev. Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ, congratulated the students for their excellent performance and stated the importance of participating in such events. He also said that winning or losing is a part of life, but participating and giving our best is important.

Pulse 2023 was a grand success, as students proactively participated and engaged in positive interclass competitions. The pupils participated in the talent show with great enthusiasm, and displayed remarkable excellence in the events. The winners were felicitated with certificates and gifts.
