Mangaluru: Campus Cleaning Drive was conducted by the Post Graduate Department of Commerce, St Agnes College (Autonomous), on Oct 15, 2022. Andrea Saldanha from Shirva, Udupi was the resource speaker. The main objective of this programme was to spread awareness among students about the significance of cleanliness and its benefits.
The program started with a prayer. Felina, second-year M.Com. student compered the session and introduced the speaker Andrea Saldanha. Andrea completed her B.Com. professional with ACCA at the Department of Commerce, Academy of Higher Education, Manipal University and she is currently doing her internship under a CA firm in Mangalore. Andrea Saldanha spoke about “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”. Cleanliness gives rise to good character by keeping the body, mind and soul clean and peaceful. She also enjoys gardening and gave some tricks and tips for gardening. Dr Dolan Champa Banerjee HOD of PG Commerce spoke about Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a country-wide campaign initiated by our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji in 2014. As a result, institutions, organisations, and NGOs are taking steps to clean the surroundings and be a part of the mass movement for cleanliness. The students were divided into 4 groups.
The first group for cleaning the Postgraduate block to Kannada medium school. The second group is for cleaning the main gate to the Centenary block. Third group for cleaning from Centenary building to Carmel block. Fourth group for cleaning from Carmel block to PUC block. Dr Banerjee handed over a token of gratitude to Saldanha.
All the M.Com. students enthusiastically cleaned the campus and the programme ended with a vote of thanks by Renita.
